Sandy Rae McFarland, 55, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2019 at her home.

She was born March 15, 1964 to Donald and Barbara Chance Etcher in Albia, Iowa. 

She graduated from Albia High School with the Class of 1982. She continued her education at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Mo.

She married Chris McFarland Oct. 1, 1983 in Bussey, Iowa. He survives.

In 1993 she and Chris began work as missionaries in Brazil, staying there until 1996. In 2003, they moved to Hooker, Okla., where she was involved in ministry, as her husband pastored the Gospel of Grace Church there.

In 2013 she received her Bachelor of Science in education from Calvary Bible College and in May of 2013 her Master of Science in education from Northeastern State University in Tulsa, Okla. In 2010, she became a paraeducator teacher in special education for the Hooker Public School and went on the teach the fifth and sixth grades for many years.

She was a member of the Gospel of Grace Church where she assisted in VBS, Sunday School and Ladies Bible Class; she enjoyed gardening and quilting.

Survivors also include include her parents; three sons: Josh and Jill McFarland, Tupelo, Miss., Ben and Elizabeth McFarland, New London, Iowa, and Jordan and Karinna McFarland of San Mateo, Calif.; daughters, Rachel and James Block, Harrisburg, Penn., and Aimee McFarland, Warrenton, Mo.; three brothers: Scott and Julie Etcher, Lovilia, Iowa, Steve and Thea Etcher, Warrenton, Mo., and Shawn and Heather Etcher, Warrenton, Iowa; and four grandchildren: Jasmine, Bentley, Paisley and Rowan.

• Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 at the Hooker Cemetery in Hooker, Okla.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019 at the Hooker High School Auditorium in Hooker, Okla. 

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Okla. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m.
