robert callahanRobert L. Callahan (Bob), 70, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at Rock Creek of Ottawa. 

He was born March 30, 1949 to John Callahan and Mary (Taylor) Callahan in Orange, Texas.  

He married Jocelyn Chalk (Jodi) June 22, 1968 in Kinsley.  They later divorced.  

He married Julia Randle March 28, 1999. She preceded him in death.

He graduated from Reagan High School in Corpus Christi, Texas with the Class of 1967.  He then attended Abilene Christian University on a track scholarship and later transferred to Fort Hays State University.  

In 1974, he moved to Liberal and became vice president of Colonial Savings & Loan.  He eventually began a career in real estate and was a mortgage broker for Mortgages Unlimited in Liberal.

He was a longtime member and past president of the Kansas Real Estate Board and served in many other capacities with the board. 

He was an active youth baseball coach in the Liberal community for many years.  

He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Liberal as well as a very active member of the Liberal Country Club.

He was an active member of the Liberal community for 40 years.  He loved coaching kids in baseball over the years. He was a very athletic man and still holds track records to this day at his high school.  

His family was a Liberal Bee Jay host family for many years and he took great pride in helping some of the young men that stayed with him over the summer as they were drafted into the major leagues.

Survivors include son, Brad Callahan and wife, Laura, Ottawa; daughter, Misti Callahan and husband, Ray Schulte, Omaha, Neb.; stepson, Jonathan Martin and Ashley Aylward, Eaton, Colo.; stepdaughter, Jennifer Seals and husband, Ryan, Maize; and six grandchildren: Lydia, Quincy, Shea, Skylar, Myles, and Charley. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Michael Callahan and Danny Callahan.
