robert bevanHUGOTON – Robert Bevan, 91, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.

He was born Nov. 8, 1927 to Floyd and Grace (Gregg) Bevan in Stevens County. 

He married Elsie Mae Watkins on April 15, 1951, in Center, Colo. She preceded him in death in 2014. 

He graduated from Center High School in Center, Colo.   

He participated in mission work through his church.  He helped build a cabin in the Colorado Mountains, and also worked in Arizona. 

He farmed in Stevens County for many years. 

He enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and football. 

He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making toys for his great-grandchildren. 

Survivors include daughter, Jeanette Bevan, Hugoton; brother, Willie Bevan, Macksville; sisters, Wilma Kinser, Medicine Lodge, and Lois Ellis, Washington; three grandchildren: Stacy Bevan, Jamie Mason, and Christopher Mason; and eight great-grandchildren. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Stacy Wayne Bevan; brother, Delbert Bevan; and sisters: Thelma VanDenbergh, Ida Ruth Kinser, and Elva Root.

• Graveside services took place Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton. 

Memorials are suggested to Kansas Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S Main, Hugoton, KS  67951.
