richelle simmonsRichelle Lynnette Simmons, 52, died Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. 

She was born July 19, 1966 to Don and Verna (Butler) VanDonge in Smith Center. 

She graduated from Hugoton High School in 1984. 

She worked for National Beef as a traffic coordinator for many years. 

She loved to golf and bowl.

She loved joking around with friends, family, her daughter, and her dog, Cooper. 

She fought breast cancer for three years and always fought as hard as she could, keeping her faith in God and sense of humor through it all. 

Survivors include her mother: daughter, Lindsay Simmons, Liberal; brother, Richard File, Liberal; sister, Rebecca Freeman and husband, Zerrick, Muskogee, Okla.; half-sister, Cheryl Hedge, Bartlesville, Okla.; nieces and nephews, Ashlen and Zavier Freeman. 

She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents: Bacil and Esther Butler, and Leonard and Libby VanDonge; and father-in-law, Frank Simmons Sr.

• A celebration of Richelle’s life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2019 at Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal. The family will be present to greet friends during that time. 

Memorial services will be at 10 am, Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Grace Lutheran Church in Liberal with Pastor Andrew Wehling presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton. 

Memorials are suggested to Pheasant Heaven Charities of Hugoton or Southwest Miracles, in care of the Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
