Rhea Lea Mansfield (nee Ninemire), died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, with her daughter at her side. 

She was born March 10, 1928 to James Vernon and Helen Marie (Way) Ninemire in Talmo. 

She lived in a rock house (Old Johnson Place) north of Concordia for nine years and attended grade school at Minersville. She graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1946.

She married Austin Dale Mansfield June 25, 1958 in Perryton, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1997.

She worked in the lab at the Concordia Hospital and later at the Country Kitchen prior to moving to Liberal. 

She was a bookkeeper for Southwest Gas & Equip Co. for many years and later worked for Jim Haddock, CPA. 

After several years, she went to work for National Carriers in the proration department. She moved in June to Iuka.

She was known for her kind heart and patience.

Survivors include daughter, Ila M (Dan) Hittle, Iuka; son, James Sherbert, Florida; one niece and one nephew in Florida; four great-nephews; cousin, Leo Ninemire, Concordia; two grandchildren; four great-granddaughters; and one great-great-grandson.  

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one sister.

• There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. 

Private graveside services will be at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia. 

The family requests memorials be given to the Kansas Sugar Diabetes Association, Dementia Foundation, Alzheimer Foundation or Kansas Heart Foundation.
