ruby davisRuby E. (Derby) Davis, 91, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. 

She was born Sept. 20, 1926 to Jennie (Colyear) and George Derby in Claflin. 

She married Benjamin Davis April 6, 1947 in Sublette. He preceded her in death.

She graduated from Sublette High School in 1944. 

She was an avid traveler, visiting every state in the United States at least once and also traveling overseas several times on work and witness trips for the church with her husband.  

She was an active member of the Sublette Church of the Nazarene, holding many positions in the church through the years including Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Church Director, Missionary Board President and Treasurer, and Hospitality Chair. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years and working with Vacation Bible School. She received local and district Distinguished Service Awards for her many years of service to her church.  

She also enjoyed reading, embroidery and quilting.  

Survivors include sons, Kent Davis and wife, Christine, Rockford, Ill., and Thane Davis and wife, Adella, Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Janelle Carpenter and husband, Todd, Spring Hill; grandchildren: Jade, Benjamin, Marshall and Taylor; and great-grandson, Asher. 

She was also preceded in death by son, Craig Davis; brother, George “Bud” Derby; and sisters: Pearl Wright, Opal Staton, Jeanne Roland, Eileen Oxford, Fern Hollopeter, and Mildred Clark.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Sublette Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dr. William R. Thomas presiding. 

Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. 

Friends may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Weeks Family Funeral Home & Crematory.
