ULYSSES – Odelia Ybarra, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019, at her home in Ulysses.

She was born March 20, 1939, to A.C. and Concepcion Esquivel in Winters, Texas.

She married Candido (Cande) Ybarra July 6, 1957, in Munday, Texas. He survives.

She was employed by USD 214 and worked as a custodian for 22 years at Kepley Middle School. She retired in 1997.

She enjoyed following the grandkids to all of their activities, baking birthday cakes for them, gardening, crocheting, listening to music and dancing with her daughters.

Other survivors include three daughters, Yolanda Velasquez and husband, Larry, Ulysses, Sylvia Haun and husband, Chuck, Garfield, Ark., and Delma DeLeon and husband, Robert, Garden City; three brothers, Rudy Esquivel and wife, Vickie, Austin, Texas, James Esquivel, Ulysses, and Robert Esquivel, Munday; one sister, Lucinda Alcala and husband, Isidro, Ulysses; seven grandchildren, Larry Paul Velasquez, Brooke Velasquez, Allison Medina, Alex (Ay Jay) DeLeon, Aaron DeLeon, Corey DeLeon and Davida DeLeon; seven great-grandchildren; and one son-in-law, Alex DeLeon, Garden City, husband of deceased daughter, Lilia DeLeon.

She was preceded in death byher parents, one daughter, Lilia DeLeon, two great-granddaughters, Ariana DeLeon and Alicia Velasquez, two sisters and three brothers.

• Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Oasis Church in Ulysses with Pastor Ralph Franco presiding.

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses.
