mary beth meliaELKHART – Mary Beth Melia, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019.

She was born Oct. 10, 1928 to James and Lois Hunt in Wichita.   

She married Phillip Max Melia Feb. 2, 1948. He preceded her in death. They had four children, Shelly Lyn, Geana Kaye, Sally Jo, and Phillip Max Jr. 

She was active all her life in various family businesses, including Max's Service, The She Shoppe, Countryside LMCW, and Point Rock Kennels. 

She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church. 

She was an avid crocheter, making several clothing items for family members, and later spent many hours at school programs and sporting events of her grandchildren.  

Survivors include Shelly Johnson and Ronald, Klamath Falls, Ore., Cassandra Owens and Kelly, Elkhart; Jonathan Owens and Dandi, Wamego; Jonna Owens, Manhattan; Geana Adams, Woodbridge, Va.; Sunshine Adams, Woodbridge, Va.; Ryland Adams and Elizabeth and Cavanaugh, Kissimmee, Fla.; Ashley Olson and Brian, Los Angeles; Sally Melia, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; Lindsey O'Leary and David, Jude and Cia, Salt Lake City; Landon Constance, Salt Lake City; and Madison Melia, Salt Lake City.

She was also preceded in death by her  parents; siblings: Harold, Jack, Bruce, and Jewell; son, Phillip Max Jr.; grandson, Jon Daniel Whisennand; and son-in-law, Charles Adams.

• As per Mary Beth's wishes there will be no funeral service at this time, but a graveside celebration of life will be held at a later date.
