manuel mezaULYSSES – Manuel Lombrana Meza, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at his home in Ulysses. 

He was born Dec. 30, 1935 to Bonifacio Diaz and Deloris (Lombrana) Meza in Menard, Texas. 

He married Irma Guerra Sept. 15, 1962 in Ulysses. She survives.

He served in the U.S. Army and after being honorably discharged he settled in Ulysses. 

He worked at Ansel Manufacturing in Ulysses and for Collingwood Grain in Big Bow, retiring after 35 years. 

He was a handyman who enjoyed carpenter work and building and remodeling houses.

Survivors also include son, William Meza, Ulysses; three daughters: Cynthia Meza, Ulysses, Rebecca Bryner and husband, Michael, Ulysses, and Norma Meza, Ulysses; brothers, Modesto Meza, Mineral Wells, Texas, and Joe Meza, Grand Prairie, Texas; five sisters: Lupe Beohler, Ulysses, Vicki Lewis, Conroe, Texas, Sally Carson, Ulysses, Linda Zuniga, Fritch, Texas, and Mary Lou Meza, Dodge City; nine grandchildren: David Meza and wife, Amber, Marlena Wohlgemugh and husband, Beau, Madison Meza, Morgan Meza, Malia Meza, Kaden Moody, Colton Moody, Carter Moody, and Tesla Madsen; four great-grandchildren: Manuel Esquivel, Alivia, Christian and Annelaine Meza; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Martha Ann Meza; brother, BL Meza; and four sisters: Clementine Poppe, Debbie Medina, Madeline Hernandez, and Janie Meza.

• Vigil service and rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses. 

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with Reverend Peter Fernandez presiding. 

Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses with Military rites by the Fort Riley Honor Guard and Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. 

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
