Kerry Lyle Wheeler, 77, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019. 

He was born Feb. 27, 1942 to Lynne Wheeler and Thelma McNew in the family home in Turpin, Okla. 

He married Arlene Watkins Dec. 27, 1964. She survives.

He was a lifelong resident of Turpin, Okla., where he was self-employed as a farmer and rancher.

He graduated from Turpin High School in 1960 and from Okmulgee State Technical School in 1963. 

He was a lifelong member of the Turpin United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School superintendent and volunteer groundskeeper of Independence Cemetery. 

He served on the Turpin School Board for 15 years, and he was a member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association. 

He also enjoyed singing, and loved snow and waterskiing. 

Survivors also include children: Kirk Wheeler (Steffanie), Flower Mound, Texas, Prof. Kip Wheeler (Cat Faber), Jefferson City, Tenn., and Dr. Keely Wheeler (Randy Totora), Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Karen Lehnert; and three grandchildren: Kerighan, Kenedy, and Kylan Wheeler. 

He was preceded in death his parents; and three sisters: Kathlyn Rowley, Delores Woody, and Shirlene Williams.

• Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Turpin United Methodist Church in Turpin, Okla.
