joan hinkleULYSSES – Joan Hinkle, 80, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at the Western Prairie Senior Living in Ulysses. 

She was born April 16, 1938 to Liston and Harriet (Nirk) Bridwell in Sheldon, Iowa.

She married Herman Hinkle April 7, 1956, in Johnson. He preceded her in death.

She operated the coffee shop in the Ralsamore Hotel, cooked at a steakhouse, and later became a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital and then a Physical Therapist Assistant at Western Prairie Care Home. 

She loved watching NASCAR, enjoyed fishing, and had crocheted many lap blankets. 

Survivors include daughters, Cindy LaFever and husband, Greg, Ulysses, and Mary Warren and fiancé, Dickie Horner, Ulysses; brother, Gary Bridwell, Independence; sisters: Darlene Blake, Great Bend, Dorothy Anderson, Ulysses, and Sherry Harris, Mount Juliet, Tenn.; four grandchildren: Tim Hinkle, Nathan Hinkle, Michael Kuhn, and Drew Martin; and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny Hinkle; great-grandson, Nathaniel Hinkle; brothers, Bob Bridwell and Carl Bridwell; and sisters: Emily Walsh, Patty Jacobs and Kathy Peirce.

• Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses with Pastor Gerry Dupuis presiding.   

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
