james armstrongJames V. Armstrong Jr., 66, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. 

He was born June 12, 1952 to James V. Armstrong Sr. and Ruthie Lea (Martin) Armstrong in Victoria, Texas. 

He was married to Glenda J. Pitts Dec. 30, 1969 in Pampa, Texas. She survives.

He was a member of the NRA and the Church of God. 

He worked for Halliburton Service as a Special Tools Operator for 38 years, retiring June 1, 2008. 

He enjoyed many hobbies including working on racecars and racing motorcycles. 

Survivors also include son, James V. Armstrong III and wife, Sandra, Liberal; daughter, Kayla R. Janko and husband, Jeremiah, Liberal; brother, R.D. Armstrong; sister, Brenda C. McGee and husband, Allan, Caddo Mills, Texas; and grandchildren: James V. Armstrong IV, Miley R. Janko, and Miah L. Janko. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with Reverend Jeff Mitchell presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal with family present to greet friends 4 to 5 p.m..

Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association, in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
