iva frankeIva Wanice Franke, 92, died Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal. 

She was born Nov. 16, 1926 to John and Edna (McAdams) Kennedy in Campo, Colo.

She married Charles M. "Peanut" Franke Jan. 15, 1957 in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death April 17, 2009.

She was a graduate of Hooker High School in Hooker, Okla. After high school she went on to attend Barclay College in Haviland, where she completed her registered nursing degree. 

She worked as an RN for 40-plus years, working with Dr. Campion for several years and then with Dr. Estrada until retiring in 1984. While nursing she also owned a yarn shop, "Kits-n-Knits" for many years. 

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, embroidery, and loved to help others. 

She was a lifetime member of the National Nurses Association. 

Survivors include sister, Ellen Munro, Hooker, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Chester Kennedy and John Kennedy; sisters, Luella Kennedy and Ninetta Ramsey.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday May 17, 2019 at the Miller Mortuary Chapel in Liberal with Pastor Chuck Scroggs presiding.

Cremation will follow the service and a private family burial will take place at a later date.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
