gladys griffithGladys Louise (Matthews) Griffith, 75, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019. 

She was born Feb. 21, 1943 to Richard C. and Lillie (Helm) Matthews at home in Silverton, Texas. 

She was a 1961 high school graduate of Lockney High School. 

In 1969, she relocated to Liberal to work for USD 480 as an administrative assistant at South Jr. High. 

In 1994, she returned to Waxahachie, Texas, where she worked for Baylor Scott & White Hospital until retiring in 2016 after 25 years of service. 

She was baptized and confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Providence community in Lockney, Texas.

Survivors include son, Dane Griffith and wife, Susan, Auburn, Ala.; daughter, Jackie Galvan and husband, Cowboy, Maypearl, Texas; grandchildren: Sadie Galvan, Maypearl, Texas, Brett Portillo and wife, Summer, Midlothian, Texas, Gabie (Galvan) Fields and husband, Kevin, Memphis, Tenn., Cristian Aguilar, Dallas, Jesika Galvan and significant other, Corey Burgess, Waxahachie, Texas, Ali Galvan and significant other, Andre Larry, Maypearl, Texas, and Shelton Griffith, Auburn, Ala.; great-grandchildren: Tre Portillo, Kasen Handy, Kashlyn Fields, Summit Portillo, Adelaide Larry, Keona Fields, Harper Blu Rife, Kinzy Fields and Jayce Fields; brother, Robert Matthews, Plainview, Texas; sisters, Rosalee King and husband, Al, San Angelo, Texas, and Arline Jones and husband, D.I., Waskom, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and the father of her children, Kenneth W. Griffith.
