Dorothy Ruth (Dorothymom) Campbell, 92, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019 at her home in Hooker, Okla.

She was born Sept. 28, 1927 to Adam Robert and Minnie Ruth Garrett Young in Hooker, Okla.

She married Ernest Kerr Jr. in 1945. 

She married Ed Campbell in Dec. 1948.

In 1975 she started keeping books for Ed’s oil field mechanic business and set up her own sewing shop in her home. She was a savvy businesswoman who worked hard for her family. 

Throughout the years, she altered clothing for most of the people in Hooker and the surrounding area. Her talent extended beyond just alterations though, she also created entire outfits and for years was the person the American Legion trusted to care for their flags damaged by the Oklahoma winds.

She enjoyed oil painting, crafting, genealogy, writing poetry, crocheting and traveling.

She was an active grandmother in the lives of her grandchildren in Hooker, Okla. 

Survivors include son, Ronald Gene Kerr and wife, Kae, Ft. Collins, Colo.; daughters, Rosa Lee Kerr, Hooker, Okla., and Ruth Ann Campbell, Lynchburg, Va.; brother, Billy Joe Young and wife, Lois, Woodward, Okla.; sisters, Mary Wooldridge, Lincoln, Neb., and Jo Ann “Pud” Johnson, Hooker, Okla.; six grandchildren: Todd and Jeri Kerr, Hooker, Okla., Mitzi and Tracey McCoy, Greeley, Colo., Mendi Kerr, Ft. Collins, Colo., Eddie and Angie Kerr, Ft. Collins, Colo., Barbara and Craig Rypkema, Lynchburg, Va., and Adam Reandeau, Hooker, Okla.; 11 great grandchildren: Jace, Jared, Austin, Noah, Molly, Marlee, Ashley, Elisha, Brittany, Mikayla, Raven; and three great great grandchildren: Emma, Brylee, Andrew.

• Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Hooker, Oklahoma with Pastor Mike McReynolds presiding.

Burial will be at the South Lutheran Cemetery near Hooker, Okla.
