dorothy bryanDorothy Jean Bryan, 86, died Tuesday May 21, 2019 at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita. 

She was born July 20, 1932 to Ivan and Sylvia (Williams) Deckert in Great Bend. 

She graduated from Great Bend High School. Following high school she moved to Wichita, where she worked at St. Joseph's Catholic Hospital while obtaining her registered nursing certification. 

She moved to Liberal in 1953, where she worked as an RN at the Epworth Hospital. 

She returned to Nursing in 1983 with the Liberal Good Samaritan Center and then with Southwest Medical Center; retiring in 1998. 

She enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge, and baking. She was a member of P.E.O., numerous Bridge clubs and a former member of the Southlawn Elementary School PTA and BETA SIGMA PHI. 

She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include sons, Sean Bryan and wife, Lori, Colorado Springs, and Kevin Bryan and wife, Gail, Sand Point, Idaho; daughter, Katie Cody and husband, Jay, San Marcos, Texas; sisters, Patty Archer, McPherson, and Delores Westfall, Great Bend; granddaughter, Michille Gwennap, Pratt; grandson, Will Bryan Cody, Mountain View, Calif.; and three great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Bryan; and brothers, Delbert Deckert and Gary Deckert.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Liberal with Pastor Terry Ford presiding.

Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Miller Mortuary in Liberal, with the family present from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
