Donald Ray (Bud) McAlister, 85, died Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, Okla.

He was born March 19, 1934 to Arthur and Marie (Reckard) McAlister at the Beaver County Hospital in Beaver, Okla. 

He married Lillora Jane Winslow. They later divorced. 

He married Cheley Lansden Cates Rodgers July 9, 1993. She survives. 

He graduated from Beaver High School with the Class of 1953. He later attended business school in Oklahoma City. 

He worked as the office manager for a large dairy corporation in Denver. He later returned to Oklahoma where he started working for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

He later went to work as an accountant for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation where he worked his way up the ladder to deputy comptroller at the main office on the state capitol grounds. He retired in March of 1991. 

He would prepare income tax returns for other people, beginning in the 1950s. He continued that practice until around 2015.

He was known for his cheerful attitude, always had a smile and never met a stranger. 

He later joined the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as treasurer. 

Survivors also include sons, James (Coleen) McAlister, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Charles (Mandy), Oklahoma City; four stepsons: Dennis (Dolores) Cates, Tyrone, Okla., Ronnie Cates, Liberal, Michael (Taryn) Cates, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Michael Dean (Jessica) Rodgers, Turpin, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; older siblings, Myrle Richardson and Dean McAlister, twin sister, Donna Mae Baker, and niece, Rita Gayle McAlister Norris. 

• Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Beaver First Christian Church in Beaver, Okla. with Herb Bridgewater presiding. 

Burial will be at the Forgan Cemetery in Forgan, Okla.
