dale coenELKHART – Dale Boicourt Coen, 96, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 at the Morton County Hospital in Elkhart

He born Jan. 15, 1922 to Edgar and Rena Coen on the Coen homestead south and west of Rolla.  

He married Bonnie Barmore Sept. 24, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1996. 

He later married Opal Clampitt. She preceded him in death in 2010.

He attended West Cess grade school and later attended both Rolla and Wilburton schools, finally graduating high school from Wilburton in 1940.  

In 1942, he began serving his country and spent a little over three years in the Army Air Corp in both the United States and Europe serving as a gunnery instructor.

In 1945 after the war, he returned to Morton County and began farming with his father and brothers, eventually setting up his own farming operation. 

He was active in his community serving as 4-H leader, church youth leader, pastor, Farm Bureau board, ministerial alliance, and helped with the county fair and other opportunities he had to serve.  

He was active in the RLDS church throughout the years with his wife, during which time they brought ministry to many families in Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas. They also farmed and raised registered Polled Hereford cattle for their livelihood. 

He was also preceded in death by brothers: Verl, Marion, Richard, Floyd, and Lloyd; sister, Rena Marie; and great-granddaughter, Neveah.   

Survivors include son, Jay D and wife, Lori, Elkhart; brother, Ralph, Chickasha, Okla.; granddaughter, Michelle and husband, Brett and their daughter, Brooke, Derby; granddaughter, Robyn Kadel and husband, Brice, Andover; grandson, Jace and wife, Lauren, and their children, Emma and Jayden Dale, Neosh, Mo.; grandson, Landon Coen, Colorado Springs; granddaughter, Marci Priest, Texhoma, Okla.; and great-granddaughter, Mia Bhutto, Yukon Okla.

• Funeral services took place Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Elkhart with Gary Talbert presiding. 

Burial took place at the Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart with military rites by VFW Point Rock Post #3162.
