charles dunbar iiiCharles “CJ” Jesse Dunbar III, 38, died Sunday, March 3, 2019, at his residence in Liberal, KS. 

He was born Nov. 14, 1980 to Charles Jesse Dunbar JR and Penny Van Buren in Liberal. 

He attended Liberal High School, graduating with the class of 1999. He attended the Seward County Vo-Tech School. 

He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing outside with his children. He loved his job at M& M tire in Liberal as a service tech. 

He was a collector of many different things, including knives, hats, Hot Wheels cars, and other little trinkets.

Survivors Include son, Caelan Wayne Dunbar, Elk City, Okla.; brothers, Troy Dunbar-Howard and spouse, George Howard, Nashville, Tenn., and Robert Dunbar and spouse, Cassandra Dunbar, Seattle; grandfather, Larry Van Buren, Liberal; aunt, Theresa Patton and spouse, Donnie Patton and their children, Aaron Patton and Savanah Patton, Liberal; and great-grandfather Sherman Morlen, Liberal. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Donna Van Buren; and great-grandmother, Dorothy Morlen.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 at Brenneman Funeral Home with Pastor Rex Petty presiding.

Cremation will take place after the service and burial will be in Tennessee at a later date. 

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal.
