celia howardCelia Faye Howard, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019 at her home in Kismet.

She was born Jan. 15, 1937 to Thomas and Lois (Lofland) Winkler in Liberal.

She married Herman W. Howard Jan. 14, 1978; He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2010.

She was a graduate of Liberal High School with the Class of 1954. After high school she attended business school in Hutchinson. 

She was an evaluation technician for Northern Natural Gas/Enron where she was one of the first women mechanics. After retiring she worked in her church’s office. 

She enjoyed shopping, studying alternative natural remedies, her dog, "Patches" and was an avid family historian. 

She was a member of Red Hat Society, the Kismet Senior Citizen's Dinner group and a life-long member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include son, Brian Howard and wife, Norene Smith, Cabot, Ark.; daughter, Deanna Lytle and husband, Joel, Arlington, Texas; brother, Rev. Virgil Winkler and wife, Virginia, Dodge City; sister, Shirley Hager and husband, Bill, Parma, Idaho; three grandchildren: Chelsea McNeely and husband, Aaron, Jean Lytle, and Chet Lytle; and four great-grandchildren: Jude, Oliver, Theodore, and Barrett McNeely.

She was also preceded in death by brother, Edward Winkler; and sister, Betty Jane Fosdick.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Andrew Wehling presiding. 

Burial will follow at the Kismet Cemetery in Kismet.

There will be no public viewing.
