Beulah Mae Atherton, 92, died Friday, May 17, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in Liberal. 

She was born Jan. 9, 1927 to Charles Brown and Marie Bailey Brown in Hardesty, Okla.

She graduated from Hardesty High School in Hardesty, Okla.

She married Medford Lewis Atherton June 1, 1947 in Adams, Okla. He preceded her in death July of 1987.

She was a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church and she worked as church secretary for more than 30 years and helped in other ways.

She was a member of the 2nd Infantry Division Auxiliary.

Survivors include son, David Atherton, Liberal; brother, Don Clover, Gatesville, Texas; and sister, Lois Nyte of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Allen; brothers, Elton and Joe Brown; and sister, Mary Lou Gilmore.

• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at First Southern Baptist Church 621 N. Western Ave. in Liberal, with Reverend Jeremy Harris presiding

Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal.

Memorials are suggested to the First Southern Baptist Church or the Good Samaritan Society of Liberal in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd St Liberal, Kansas, 67901.
