BALKO, Okla.—A 20-3 third quarter was the difference in the game as the Balko Bison came back to defeat Turpin, 52-37.

“Two key things tonight,” Bison Coach Jake Regier said. “We saw some junk defenses against Logan Taylor, and we’re going to see a lot of those with his scoring ability, and we had other guys hit shots. Second, we came out to start that second half on a mission at the defensive end of the floor.”

Balko dominated the first five minutes of the second half, holding Turpin scoreless on a 15-0 run. Most of those points came in transition off of steals.

“Our ballhandling wasn’t were it needed to be tonight,” Cardinals Coach Gary Wallace said. “We had way too many turnovers.”

In the first half, Balko’s Jaden Hall started strong, scoring 8 of his 14 in the first quarter. Turpin’s Adam Garza was hot from outside with three treys in the first half, including two during the 17-7 second quarter. Turpin had fought back from a 15-7 deficit in the first to take a 24-22 lead at the half.

Balko’s Logan Taylor was solid throughout the game, finishing with 14, as did Jaden Hall. Adam Creason added 12 and Cohl Cowan added a pair of threes.

Turpin was led in scoring by Adam Garza with 12, and Cesar Anchondo added 10.

Balko (2-0) will host Goodwell, Tuesday. Turpin (0-1) will travel to Tyrone, Tuesday.
