The Liberal Redskins ended the regular season Thursday with a 10-3 loss at Dodge City, ending the regular season at 11-9.

Dodge City too a three-run lead in the first inning and added another run in the second.

Liberal cut the lead to 4-2 with a pair of runs in the third innings and was back to within one after scoring a run in the top of the fifth.

But the Red Demons responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth, and after starting pitcher Braxton Hyde was relieved, the Redskins struggled, giving up five runs in the sixth to fall behind 10-3.

The Redskins couldn’t score in the seventh.

Javier Bojorquez carried the load for the Redskins at the plate, turning in a 3-for-3 performance with an RBI.

Syris Dunlap, Shay Kerr and Elijah McCarter each had a hit in the loss.

Hyde pitched five innings, allowing five runs, four of them earned, on eight hits and one walk while striking out five.

James Armstrong relieved Hyde and allowed four runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk.

Francisco Terrazas relieved Armstrong and allowed a run on a hit and two walks while striking out two, and Kerr relieved Terrazas to get the final out of the sixth inning.

The game was meaningless for regional placement since the bracket was set Wednesday.

The Redskins (11-9) will travel to Wichita Wednesday as the No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 Junction City (10-6).

The winner will likely face No. 1 seed Wichita Campus (16-1) unless the Colts suffer an upset by either 16-seed Topeka (5-14) or 17-seed Wichita Southeast (1-17) who will face off in a play-in game in Topeka Monday.

The winner of the regional tournament moves on to the Class 6A State Tournament at Kansas University in Lawrence.
