A five-run third inning lifted the Liberal Bee Jays to an 8-3 win in Augusta Tuesday over the Kansas Cannons.

Trevor MacDonald pitched for the Bee Jays, and while Libral was only able to score two runs through he first four innings, MacDonald only allowed the Cannons to score two runs as well.

But in the fifth inning, the Bee Jays broke through including three solo home runs shots. Corbin Truslow, Connor Emmet and Shane Sirdashney each hit home runs in the fifth to go along with two more runs, and the Bee Jays took a 7-2 lead.

Each team scored one run, and the Bee Jays earned the 8-3 win to move to 4-1 on the season.

Liberal coach Eric Olmstead was able to get every position player in the game.

“The guys played well,” Olmstead said. “We used every position player and five different pitchers.”

The Bee Jays play another non-league game with the Cannons tonight and will then travel to Park City for a pair of games Friday and Saturday against the Rangers.

Game time for Friday and Saturday has been changed to a 4 p.m. first pitch.
