GARDEN CITY — Katie Horyna was an unstoppable force in the final two games of the Clarion Classic in Garden City. She scored 24 points against Wichita Trinity in a 51-36 win, and then she put up 21 against Scott City in the finale to lead the Lady Redskins to a 60-26 blowout victory.

Liberal’s closest challenge of the season came form Trinity. Libral built a 26-13 lead with 2:39 to play in the first half, but the Knights put together a 7-0 run to cut Liberal’s lead to 26-20.

The Lady Redskins struggled in the third quarter, only scoring seven points including a basket from Aubrey Warden and Horyna and then a three pointer from warden, and the Lady Redskins lead was down to three, 33-30, to start the fourth quarter.

But Horyna took over, scoring 12 of Liberal’s 18 points in the fourth quarter, and the defense only allowed Trinity to score six points to secure the 51-36 win.
