A Hugoton man escaped an accident with only injuries after an accident Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at approximately 8:05 a.m. Tuesday at K51 and County Road B, about 15 miles east of Hugoton. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the incident happened when a 1988 Peterbilt semi pulling a 1989 Wilson trailer, which was being driven by 23-year-old Robert Elliott of Hugoton, was going south on County Road B when he went off the right side of the road, attempted to maneuver the semi back onto road and ultimately overturned into the west ditch.

The KHP also noted Elliott was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was taken to Southwest Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, which were unspecified in the report. The vehicle was removed by Allstate Wrecker in Turpin, Okla., according to the KHP report.
