Baker Arts Center has several events coming up in the early part of 2019.

The first of these will take place Saturday, Jan. 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 8, as the center hosts Art Buzz workshops for all ages, but those 20 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

No painting experience is needed. Karem Gallo of Kreations by Gallo will make it simple. The workshop meets at Baker Arts at 624 N. Pershing Ave. in Liberal. The cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members.

Be watching for more information, and call 620-624-2810 to enroll.

On Wednesdays throughout February and March, join Diane Marsh as she teaches kids from start to finish about ceramics in a children’s ceramic workshop.

The children will learn about hand building projects and wheel thrown pieces. Workshops will take place from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Feb. 6, 13, 20 and 27 and March 6, 20 and 27 at Baker Arts. There will be no workshop during Spring Break.

This is a two-month long workshop to allow for drying and firing time of the work. Cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members.

The last events are adult ceramics workshops which will also take place throughout February and March.

The potter’s wheels will be spinning once again at Baker Arts for adults to experience the art of throwing on the wheel.

Slab building, pinch pot and coil techniques will also be used to round out the clay making experience. Surface decoration and textures as well as glazing will finish off the artwork.

Classes will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. Glazing will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, March 8.

The cost of the ceramics workshops is $35 for members and $45 for non-members. Call 620-624-2810 for more information or to enroll.
