james green fnp bc• Special to the Leader & Times

Artesian Valley Health System in Meade is pleased to welcome James Green, MSN, FNP-BC, to our team of full-time providers. Green is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) with a Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University.

Green grew up in Columbus, Kansas, a small rural town in southeast Kansas. His mother was a nurse, and it was her influence which led him into the medical field. He has worked in both rural and metropolitan settings and was attracted to AVHS because of its small town, rural setting.

“I’ve been working at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, I’m from a small town and I’m really looking forward to getting out of the city and back to a rural community,” Green said. “In a small community like Meade, patients get a more personable experience with their provider, and I get to know my patients better than I can in the city.”

When you visit with Green, it’s easy to see his compassion for taking care of people as well as his delight when talking about his family. He has 15 nieces and nephews and enjoys spending time with them, five of them live nearby in Ashland with his brother and sister-in-law. He’s looking forward to being around and seeing them more often. James also enjoys hunting and fishing.

Throughout the past six years, Green has been working in the areas of Med-Surg, ICU and Emergency Care. He completed his nurse practitioner license earlier this year. While obtaining his license he worked in primary care with all ages, from infants to toddlers, adolescents, teenagers, adults and geriatrics.

“What I love most about my job is getting to know people and keeping them healthy so they can continue working and enjoying the things they love,” Green said.

At AVHS, Green will be seeing patients at all of the AVHS facilities providing primary care at the Meade and Plains Clinics, emergency and inpatient care at Meade District Hospital as well as making visits to residents at Lone Tree Retirement Center.

“If I could tell people just one thing to help them with their health it would be to be aware of their health, be conscious of any changes and communicate that with your provider,” Green said. “Addressing any health changes early can make a big difference in the outcome.”

AVHS is currently finalizing all insurance credentialing and James will start seeing patients tentatively starting Aug. 1. To schedule an appointment with Green, please call the Meade Clinic at (620) 873-2112.
