A Liberal man was involved in a wreck Sunday afternoon in Texas County, Okla.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the accident happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Sunday a little more than a mile northwest of Hardesty, Okla., when a 2019 Ford F250 pickup was westbound on Texas County Road Z and a 2013 Peterbilt semi was southbound on U.S. Highway 412.

OHP said the pickup failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign, and the semi struck the F250 on the passenger side door. The Ford then entered the west bar ditch and rolled one-quarter time coming to rest on the driver’s side in the ditch.

Meanwhile, the Peterbilt, OHP said, crossed the center line and departed the roadway to the left and rolled one quarter time coming to rest on the passenger side in the east ditch.

The Peterbilt’s driver, 39-year-old Ivan E. Carrillo of Liberal, was not injured. The pickup’s driver and a passenger in the pickup, however, were hurt.

The driver, Chance C. Prewitt, 20, and the passenger, 19-year-old Bradon Cole Henderson, both of Ada, Okla., were transported by Guymon EMS to the airport and flown by Apollo medi-flight to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. They were both admitted with head and trunk internal injuries and are both listed in stable condition.

OHP said seat belts were in use in the semi, while it is unknown if they were in use in the pickup.
