baolong do portraitSpecial to the Leader & Times

Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Baolong Do, APRN-C, as a nurse practitioner at McMurry Family Care Center. Do will work alongside Dr. R. Kelly McMurry in Guymon, Okla.

Baolong was born in Vietnam. He has been a part of the Liberal community since he was 7 years old. He is a graduate of Liberal High School and Seward County Community College, where he earned his associate’s degree in nursing. Do worked for Southwest Medical Center as a registered nurse while completing his Bachelor of Science in nursing at Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

Recently, Do graduated from the Chamberlain University with his Masters of Science in nursing. He says completing his education and certification as a nurse practitioner was difficult, especially while raising his newborn daughter and working full time.

“It was very hard, but I want to motivate others and show them that if you work hard you can achieve your goals. You must never give up and work hard to make your dreams come true,” Do said.

Baolong said his interest in healthcare came from his parents.

“My dad passed away in 2008 from Hepatitis C. There was no cure yet. I spent 2 weeks in ICU and saw what important role health professionals play in the family’s lives. I want to make that difference in my community.”

Do is looking forward to his new role as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Guymon community.

“I chose to continue working for SWMC to provide great care and support to our rural communities and patients,” Do said. “I feel that rural health care is important, and I am eager to serve our patients.”

He has a wide range of clinical interests and places a special emphasis on getting to know patients personally, following their complete medical history, meeting their family, and understanding the many factors that have an impact on their health. Do hopes that his patients take away a new understanding of preventative care and learn new ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Baolong Do, APRN-C, is now seeing patients at the McMurry Family Care Center, alongside Dr. R. Kelly McMurry. The practice is located at 123 Medical Drive in Guymon, Okla. He is accepting new patients and most major insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and Kansas and Oklahoma Medicaid.
